For US citizens a valid passport is required to enter and depart Peru. Tourists must also provide evidence of return or onward travel. Business travelers are advised to obtain visas in advance however many travel as "tourists" to avoid the complex process of obtaining a visa in advance (previous statement not advice, simply a fact). Travelers to Peru will receive a card from Peru Immigration upon arrival stating the length of approved stay (usually 90 days).
